Jenny’s life has improved since her recent divorce. She’s moved back to her hometown of Lobsterville, Maine with her five-year-old daughter, found a job as a gardener, and reconnected with her old friend Eryka.
One day at work, Jenny encounters a community of talking chipmunks who live inside a rock wall. She’s not sure if the chipmunks are magic or if she’s losing her marbles. Either way, she rationalizes the chipmunks are a harmless distraction from her everyday struggles. She keeps this adorable secret to herself but writes about them and the rest of her life in her diary.
At Eryka’s birthday party, Jenny meets Damien, a handsome stranger who says all the right things. A steamy whirlwind romance begins. Just as everything seems perfect, Damien reveals his dark past.
Meanwhile, the carefree chipmunks begin to act strange. When Jenny asks them what is wrong, they detail a series of specific, sequential events that will lead to the End of Days. Startled, Jenny slips on a rock and tumbles into a ravine, unable to climb out. While she’s missing, her diary falls into the wrong hands.
Will Jenny escape the ravine in time to pick up her daughter? Has she finally found love, but lost her mind? Will the chipmunk apocalypse come to pass?
